All school districts have a slightly different philosophy for the 6th grade level. Some believe this is the start of middle school and other say this the end of the elementary era. Whatever your take on this is, one thing is for sure the curriculum starts to pull away from teaching spelling and requires you to independently learning how to order these letters of the alphabet on your own. If you don't have a solid strategy in place to manage this, you will have a difficult time. When you come across an unfamiliar vocabulary term that has a tricky spelling, we encourage you to rewrite the word and use it in a sentence. A good technique is to keep note cards on all the words that give you issues. Spend just ten extra minutes a week reviewing these terms and you will master them quickly. These worksheets prepare you to tackle spelling fundamental words to the 6th grade curriculum.

How to Prepare For a Spelling Bee
Preparing for the spelling bee competition can be a tough task. However, with the following tips and tricks, you can prepare like a pro.
Read The Dictionary
One of the best practices to win the spelling bee competition is to read the dictionary. You should start reading the dictionary religiously if you have decided to take part in the spelling bee competition. The dictionary has all the words that could possibly come in your test. Give yourself enough time to mindfully go through the entire dictionary. This will help you a lot in understanding the spelling patterns and new terms.
Learn Roots
Most words are formed through roots and affixes. There are a fixed number of root words in the English language. You can memorize all of them. This trick will guarantee ease in the competition. All that you will have to do is recognize the root word and then spell it.
Predict On Your Own
Another practice to prepare for the spelling bee is to start predicting the spellings on your own. Whenever you hear a word, try to spell it. Write down the spellings of that word. Then check if the spellings are correct. If your spellings are not correct then add that word to your word list and practice its spellings regularly. This practice will also help enhance your knowledge of the spelling patterns.
Read Recite and Write
One of the great ways to learn the spellings of different words is to read, recite, and write. Read the word mindfully so that you remember the spellings of it. Then recite the word and the spellings. After that, write it down. Everything that you memorize through writing remains in your memory for longer.
Practice With Friends or Family
Set up a meeting with your friend or a family member. Ask them to give you words that you can spell. Learn the words that you got wrong. This practice will make you perfect at spellings in no time.
