Character Education is a term used for an instructional process to help young students become active and positive citizens. It tries to influence the core beliefs and moral compass of students. It stresses the life skills of cooperation and compromise. The goal is to have students that not only respect each other, but they are honest and fair to one another. The hope of such a program is to help future generations running smooth. The prime goal of this initiative is to help students form a good moral structure that is rooted in having strong ethics and a generally feeling of worldly responsibility. The worksheets below will help students examine their own character and work towards the reflection of where they can explore their character leading to self growth.

Character Education Worksheets To Print:

The 7 Principles of Good Character - We ask you to talk about the people you know and admire. Think of someone that you know whom you believe has a good character. Can you see any of the 7 Principles of Good Character at work in that person?

Exhibiting Good Character - We interpret character here, not posture. Study each picture. What aspects of good character do you think are being exhibited?

Self Control - Many times your patience will be tested, this is when we display our strongest surge of personal control.

The Qualities of Good Character - A little matching exercise to get you headed in the right direction.

Honesty - This is a quality that you need to be habitual with. Honesty means being truthful in what you say and do. Read each scenario below. Is the person being honest or dishonest?

Wisdom - To act with wisdom means to apply truth and experience to your daily actions.

Do You Have Patience? - Can you think of five examples of situations that might require you to have patience?

Loyalty - Loyalty is the quality of showing commitment to someone, even during difficult times.

Is it Obedience of Not? - It is about doing your duty with a good attitude; it is about cooperating with and respecting rules and laws that are for the good of everyone.

Conservation - Conservation means being a good caretaker of what you have. What are some examples of ways that people are practicing conservation in your community?

Respect - Treating people with respect is an important part of maintaining relationships. Read each scenario below. Then write down how you would respond to the scenario, demonstrating the character quality of respect.

Attentiveness - Multitasking can be a good thing, but not if you aren't giving adequate attention to each task at hand.

Character Sketches - What qualities of good character do you think the boy is showing or lacking in each picture?

Determination - Determination means overcoming obstacles to achieve your goals. You should have a recent story in your mind with this worksheet.

The 6 Pillars of Good Character - Study the six pillars of good character presented above. Then think of a time when you have displayed each of these qualities and describe it on the line.

How Does The Average Teacher Include Character Education?

Character Education is a lifestyle, not a curriculum that can be followed and placed in a binder. You might have heard this before, but I’ll say it anyway. As a whole, it is trying to help shape the culture and knowledge base of future generations. This is no small task. The classroom is the perfect place to try to help shape this maturation process. Students literally spend just North of ten-thousand hours in a classroom over the course of K-12 education.


What we are trying to do is to influence student behavior and culture over long periods of time. Teachers are trying to help student make good choices, during tough times, in their future. One of the best ways to do this in with your classes is to model the desired behavior. You can’t just model it for a week, it needs to be constant and always. Kids will always test you, you just need to stay the course and stay rock solid consistent.


Recently there has been a strong push to fight off bullying and non-healthy practices. This is one of the most common forms of Character Education that is being seen in schools today. I recently attended a High School Open House that had a course all students took entitled “Choices- Make Good Ones”. They literally look at all major and leading choices students should expect to make over the next ten years and help them review which position students should have on them?
