Grade 2 Reading In The Content Area Worksheets
Related ELA Standard: RI.2.10
In grade 2 this is most likely the first time where students are beginning to use reading to actually learn new information. Up to this point we were focused on just the process of reading, now we are engaging those skills to discover something fresh to us. Taking notes allows us to review what we have read in detail and bring the thoughts up to the surface quicker. There are many different ways to take notes. Some people jot something down after almost every sentence; this should be looked at as not being helpful. One of the best ways to prepare your notes is to write one short sentence per paragraph that you read. Many people and even teachers focus on chapter notes, but chapters vary in size from work to work. So that may not always be the solution. These worksheets help students on their note taking while reading literature.
