An informational text refers to the non-fiction writing genre which is focused on information about a particular subject. It also tells about the actual facts and figures. The informational text is often referred to a piece of knowledge that describes the reason and happening of the matter. It can be collected from science, social studies, trade books, newspaper and magazines, reference material from the internet and autobiographies, etc.


The informational text helps your children understand the topic and explain it by learning new outcomes.

In order to explain information text, you have to work on two parts, starting from finding it first.


Tips to find Information text in Non-Fiction Write-Up:


The informational text has a slightly formal tone and can be difficult to understand. These tips are surefire ways to highlight important findings and comprehend useful content from the text.

a) Scan each section twice.

b) Search for keywords like a definition or short explanation/reasons.

c) Focus on the text features including pictures and captions, bold or highlighted words, timelines and maps, titles, headings, and diagram, etc.

d) Reread for the final time and try to comprehend the main idea or sense of entire information text.

c) Write down the possible answers to why it happened?
