When you are trying to understand the significance of a larger body of work, it is often helpful look directly at key turning points within the work. This is like solving a jigsaw puzzle. You start with the corners and work your way in to make sense of the entire puzzle. When you are looking for that portion of text that holds a great deal of significance to the piece, start by looking for areas of the work where the mood changes. Where a cloud hangs over the piece. The next step is to gather all the main points. The main points are the important details that add to the significance of the text. These details could be anything from an event to ideas to names.
Identify the Significance
The next step is to identify the significance of the text. Try to understand the audience and why the writer wanted to write it in the first place. What message is being delivered through this text to the audience?
Consider Most Important Points
The next step is to identify and consider the most important points. When you have gathered all the necessary and important details from the text, it is time to succinct them down to the only necessary ones. Grab the points that make the text unique and readable.
Locate Evidence
Another important step towards writing an analysis for the text is to locate the evidence. If there is something that you want to prove in your analysis, then it is best to grab some evidence from the text itself to prove your point.
