How to Write Thank You Notes
Here is the complete process of writing a thank you note.
Greetings
The best way to start a thank you note is by greeting the other person. You can start with the name of the person that you are writing a thank you note to. Make sure that you are using the correct spellings of the name otherwise, it can look rude. If the note is informal, you can ask them how they are doing and what is happening in their life and tell them that everything is fine at your end as well.
Express Your Thanks
The next step is to write thank you for whatever favor that they have done for you. You can directly move towards the thanks part without wasting any time on unnecessary details. The two words "Thank you" are enough. After expressing your thanks, you can state the reason and purpose of your thanks.
Add Details
When you have expressed your thanks, you can add a little bit of detail regarding the story. If they have given you a gift, you can write about how you have been using that gift. If it's a favor that they have done, you can mention how it has helped you. You can mention the details in a few lines.
Look Ahead
You can mention your plans to them. You can write about the next time that you will see them or plan a get-together.
Restate Thanks
When you are done with everything, it is time to restate the thanks. This is a good way to proceed towards the end. You can add different details this time to make it look natural.
End With Regards
End your thank you note with regards. For formal relationships, "sincerely" will do. However, you can use "with love", "yours truly", and "many thanks" for informal relationships.
