When you are working on shorter writing tasks they will often be designed around explain or describing something in little detail. The purpose of shorter tasks may also be to inform the reader. When you are explaining your goal is to talk about the how and why. When you are describing something make it vivid for the reader. When you are explaining something, the goal is to focus on the facts in a engaging manner. The worksheets will help young writers explore these three writing tasks.

Robot World – Most contemporary robots are used to do repetitive actions, often in manufacturing, or they do jobs considered too dangerous for humans, like going into a building to search for and diffuse a bomb.

If You Could Just Change One Thing... – If there is one thing that you could change about the house or apartment that you live in, what would it be?

Weather is Real – What kind of bad weather or natural disasters do you get where you live?

How to Know Which Writing Form to Use


Writing is an activity with a variety of options to choose one from in terms of style and form. Some writings are conversational while others are descriptive, some are formal while the others might be informal, there is a proper writing style followed in academic text. However, some texts follow a laid back and communicative style of writing. Sometimes, the written content uses a lot of puns and wordplay in its formation while, on the other hand, there are texts with a very grim and serious tone.


Such versatility in the forms and styles of writing somehow makes it a daunting task for any writer to stick to one form through their writing process. However, some factors determine the form of writing to a great extent. Here are some of the most important elements that can help you decide which form of writing will be best suited for your writing:


The Content


The content of any writing is the most important element that determines the style and forms it should use. If you are writing something to submit as an assignment to your teacher, you must follow a formal style with an academic form. However, you must stick to an informal and conversationalist tone while writing something to a friend or a family member you are close to. Moreover, in the case of drafting any literary text, the genre and the content of that text must be analyzed to decide the writing form for such a work.


The Audience


Your audience is the second most important element that determines the form your text must be written in. If you are writing something to be read by your teacher, the form of writing needs to be formal and serious.
