How Do You Determine the Authors and Illustrators of a Work?
It is important that you teach your child about the author and illustrator of a work. An author or an illustrator is usually a person who is behind the creativity that you read. They are the creators of the books. They completely own the contents of that book.
There is a difference between an author and illustrator.
An author is usually a person who writes a book. He is the creative mind behind the content of the book. The author creates a compelling theme in his mind and then works on further developing it as a story. He can also get ideas from different inspirations. After setting the main theme, the author then works on building the characters that would play a vital part in the story. The story is totally incomplete without the character. He thinks about the personalities of those characters and how they would add to the building of the story. He gives them names. The author also decides what circumstances would the character's face. He builds up the entire scenario in his mind and then pours it on the paper. He gains all the relevant information and organizes the entire story in order. The author is often also responsible for publishing of the story.
Whereas, an illustrator is a person behind the creative visuals that you see in the books. He is a born artist with skills of producing appealing images for the books. He uses software to create compelling visuals and images.
It is important to know about the author and illustrators of the work to give them the credit for their work. Every child should learn to value the authors and illustrators for bringing forth interesting learning content. You can find the name of the author and illustrator on the cover page of the book. It is usually mentioned below on the front cover page.
