What Are Some Fun Research Projects for Kindergarteners?

It is often believed that research projects are for older students. However, kindergarteners can also be enthusiastic researchers. Allowing them to conduct proper research from a young age would boost their cognition and make them better researchers as adults. Here are some fun research projects that you can conduct in your kindergarten class.


The World of Bugs


This is a very fun research activity for kindergarteners because they are always interested in bugs and insects. You can assign each kindergartener a specific bug or insect, where they should research all they can about that bug. You can get some modeling clay and plastic insects and bugs so that the kindergarteners do no harm any real bugs. After they are done doing research on them, you can ask them questions like "how many legs does it have?", "where is it found often?" or "what is their usual size?". This would instill the ability to pay attention to details in kindergarteners.


History Research Projects


History is usually a compulsory subject in most curriculums. Kindergarteners are also taught about many famous personalities and time periods in history class. To make this type of learning more fun and instilling some research skills in your students, you can assign a history research project. Each student will get a certain famous personality on which they will be conducting research. You can ask them questions like "who the personality was?" and "why is he/she famous?". After they have completed their research, you can ask each child to present their research in front of the class.
