Story Plot and Sequence Worksheets

A story's plot is the main basis for the work. The plot to two different stories can be very similar, but the sequence of events that led them to the same outcome is often very different. In some works author don't tell a detailed and sequential series of events to lead to an outcome. These types of works are seen as open plots and often can be difficult for readers to understand. These forms of literature definitely require the readers to have several passes over the material to make sure they don't miss any intricacies of the work. The worksheets found in this section will have students read a story and work on understand the sequence the events occurred in the story. We also evaluate if there may have been a better way to present it to readers.

Hide and Go Seek, Ouch! - Jack and Carla love to run outside and play hide and seek on their grandparents' farm.
The Train Ride - Lee was excited about her new train ride to visit her aunt in the city of Beijing, China.
Fishing with Poppy - Marcus had never been fishing before. His great uncle, Poppy, was coming into this weekend to take him fishing on the pier.
The Sleep Over - Yvette was very excited about having her first sleep over. She had invited some friends who went to her school.
Picking Berries - Every year Henry and his family like to go out to the Brewster's Berry Farm and pick berries. The fields are usually soft and muddy with berries growing in every direction.
The Wacky Day at School - Lionel woke up and got ready for school. It was a strange morning as he noticed his parents were still asleep when he left to walk to school.
Making Pizza - Today Rhonda and her friends were learning how to make pizza. Her mom bought all of the pizza supplies. They first had to roll out the dough. None of them had ever worked with raw pizza dough before.
Gardening - When growing plants or flowers in a garden, you cannot just plant something in the dirt. The ground has to be prepared in order to help things grow in it.
