Wants and Needs Worksheets
The study of economics brought about the concepts of wants and needs. A need is something that is necessary in order to survive. Without a need being satisfied, ultimately failure is imminent. There are needs that are tangible, such as food and shelter. There are also subjective needs that lead to stable mental health. Wants are completely optional and not necessary. A want may foster great growth but will not make or break you. This collective of worksheets will help students be able to better identify wants and needs.

What is the Difference Between a Want and a Need?
Almost all the languages of the world are full of many confusingly similar terms. The frequency of such terms that have somehow a related meaning but are not synonyms to each other are very high in the English language too. The new learners and young children are likely to confuse such terms with one another and are mostly not corrected by their teachers too. One set of such terms consists of the words want and need. Most of the writings of amateur authors are likely to make the wrong use of these terms. Therefore, it is very important to understand these two terms concerning their accurate meaning so that you never use them wrong again. This description is given below:
Want
The word 'want' is used in sentences to express a strong desire towards something. By using the word 'want', a speaker tries to convey his or her feelings of liking and desire to do, experience, or have something. However, this word is just used to express a desire and the speaker can easily do well even if the 'want' is not achieved. For example, in case you are not too hungry but want to eat something you will say "I want to eat something". However, if you think you would not be able to survive without eating then the term want must be replaced with a word like 'need' to show the urgency of you to eat something.
Need
The word 'need' is used in sentences to express a strong requirement of something or someone and to indicate that without finding the thing that a person needs, he or she won't be able to survive or live normally. For example, 'Humans need oxygen to breathe' shows the necessity of oxygen for our survival and the term need cannot be replaced with want here.
